Wellbeing Learning - Year 8
Mandatory: Yes
Duration: Full year
Description
In Year 8 Wellbeing at Millicent High School, students build on their self-awareness and personal development by exploring how they learn best through the 'Learning to Learn' program. This includes a focus on Growth and Fixed Mindsets, helping students understand the power of effort and perseverance. They also explore Multiple Intelligences and the Learning Pit, recognising that challenge and struggle are valuable parts of the learning journey. A key component of the year is the 'Pathways to the Future' unit, where students investigate potential career options and map out the subjects and pathways they can take through school to help achieve their goals. In addition, students learn about Healthy Relationships and Puberty, developing knowledge and skills to navigate adolescence with confidence and respect. The year concludes with a focus on key dispositions, such as resilience, responsibility, and self-motivation, to support a smooth and positive transition out of middle school and into Year 9.
